'...The Lord is the stronghold of my life - of whom shall I be afraid?' Psalm 27:1 NIV
Stronghold. Strange word, we know. But when you really get into it, it makes a lot of sense. 'Strong'... 'hold'... someone or something that holds you safely and with strength. God's definitely the one to do that. When your life is all wrapped up in Him, anything coming at you has got to get through Him before it can touch you. Victor Hugo, the old French guy who wrote Les Misérables (yep, it was a novel to start with, but, nope, the novel doesn't have songs) wrote something cool about God. It was this: 'Have courage for the great sorrows of life, and patience for the small ones. And when you have laboriously accomplished your daily task, go to sleep in peace. God is awake.' Think about it:
God doesn't sleep. Ever. He literally always has your back. Joshua faced a truckload of enemies (that includes those giants, so probably several truckloads of enemies, actually) whilst working towards God's promise of land for Israel. He still got there fine. God promised him 'I will never leave you nor forsake you' (Joshua 21:43-45 NIV), and that's why Joshua couldn't lose. While you're out fighting for God's promises, He'll fight for you.
There is absolutely no one and absolutely nothing that is so big God can't handle it for you. If you let Him be the stronghold of your life.
