'...be clear minded and self-controlled...' 1 Peter 4:7 NIV
As we said yesterday, becoming an adult can be a tricky process. But no matter how bewildering it is, it does end. You'll grow to feel more comfortable in your maturity, and once the transitioning is over you'll move out of that stuck place into having a stable identity as an adult. Until then, though, it could make things a whole lot clearer if you find someone who can give you pointers for the problematic things. Yep, that may mean taking advice from your mum, dad or someone else like that. Believe it or not, you can never be too old for advice. The Bible says '...you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders...' (1 Peter 5:5-7 NKJ) You know why it says that? Because they already know (some of) the answers. They won't stress about the questions. Standing in the middle of it, your own life can become a bit of a blur. Out of focus, like a picture up too close. Chatting to someone can pull it back into perspective, enabling you to '...be clear minded...' like God intends. From a zoomed out view, you can make clear-headed decisions. So go on. Stick your hands above your head and ask for help. Forget becoming 'cool' by lowering your standards; that's a no-win alternative. Nothing is as 'uncool' as trying to be 'cool'! Be yourself, maintain Biblical standards and follow in Jesus' footsteps.
