Get Ready for Action (2)

‘I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised…’ Joshua 1:3 NIV

When God says ‘I promise’, you can be sure it’s going to happen. However, don’t think that means He’s going to throw it at you gift-wrapped, while you sit twiddling your thumbs kinda-sorta-maybe hoping He might just come through for you. Joshua got given ‘every place where [he] set [his] foot…’ (Joshua 1:3 NIV), which means he had to step out in faith before God’s promise became reality (Literally. He physically had to step out. One foot in front of the other. Yeah.) That same principle stands for you. When God makes you a promise, you’ve got to claim it.

You’ve got to make that choice to accept it as fact. It’s already yours if you’re willing to own it. But that doesn’t mean it’s always easy to see those promises through. Joshua had to get through 31 kings, 7 nations and giants (tall-type guys built like fridges whose heads would knock against the light fittings you’d need an extension ladder to reach. Gulp.) All to get Israel to the land God had promised to them. You’ll face scary challenges on your way to God’s promises too. But take heart, brave warrior, ‘The Lord… is the One who goes ahead of you. He will be with you.’ (Deuteronomy 31:8 NAS)

His promise is already fulfilled; you’ve just got to be daring enough to act on it.
